MonthyCup is a reusable cup –worn internally– that collects the menstrual flow. For developing it's brand visual identity we used a butterfly as a characterization of the concept. It is eco friendly, cute, comfortable & COOl. The target market is a young woman (during her fertile life), mostly between 20 and 35 years old, currently using sanitary towels and has never heard of menstrual cups. She is living in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and rest of the world. Multiple languages. A butterfly as a characterization of the concept The eco-friendly message can be communicated by drawing a living thing, such as an animal. Cuteness would be transmitted by the animal symbol, also. The comfortable and cool feeling is being communicated by in-motion shapes and fresh colors. The proposed animal is a butterfly. The butterfly represents a stage of life, a time of expansion and evolution; from the caterpillar to the cocoon, the butterfly emerges in her glory. Later, the butterfly change takes place in a period of about a month, which fits well with the duration of the menstrual period, and with the brand’s name: MonthlyCup. More over, the butterfly is in motion, reinforcing the comfortable feeling.
